HISTORY OF CLEVELAND

The Cleveland brand, originating in the 1870s as Cleveland Twist Drill in America, has been synonymous with premium cutting tools globally. Acquired by Greenfield Industries Inc. in 1995, it’s now part of WALTER Surface Technologies. Notably, during World War II, Cleveland-based companies like Acme-Cleveland Corporation, born from the merger of Cleveland Twist Drill Co. and National Acme Co., received accolades for their exceptional production efforts, with significant contributions to the war through manufacturing.

European Cleveland is owned by Werkö GmbH.

In 1938, Werkö GmbH was established as a division of Stock, Berlin Marienfelde.
Since then, they have been providing customers with solid carbide and HSS high-precision standard and customised special tools. Their advanced and vast machine park, along with their extensive experience in tool research and manufacturing, allows them to provide exceptional cutting tools that enhance the speed and efficacy of production operations.
